Mario Fante, global external relations director at Philips, answered questions about its market exit in several sleep product categories.

What types of support is Philips offering customers who currently use the discontinued products? How long will these supports be available? 

  • In the US, Philips Respironics will continue to support service and provide service parts and accessories for discontinued products through the “end of service” date, or as long as they are available. This has no effect on our consumables offerings, including masks and select accessories portfolio.  
  • Outside of the US, we will continue sales and support of our current sleep and respiratory products.
  • Importantly for patients, these changes to our portfolio do not affect our commitment to the remediation of devices included in the June 2021 recall of certain CPAP, BiPAP, and mechanical ventilator devices. This remains our focus, and these changes do not impact our steadfast commitment to serving existing patients in and outside the US.

Are there any specific products that Philips recommends to replace these discontinued products? 

  • Philips Respironics does not provide recommendations of this kind.
  • We understand the impact of this announcement on our customers and patients. While these changes are difficult, they are necessary to help us refocus our portfolio on solutions that will most effectively serve patients and customers in the future. 

Is there anything you would like to add or emphasize for our readers? 

  • Philips Respironics is constantly evaluating our choices and decisions to ensure that we are most effectively meeting the needs of our customers and the patients we serve. We will move forward with a portfolio focused on improving lives for patients all over the world.  
  • Philips remains committed to the sleep and respiratory care business, though we recognize the significant impact this has on our customers in the US. While these changes are difficult, they are necessary to help us refocus our portfolio to effectively meet the needs of our customers and their patients. As we have stated, we continue to offer and provide our mask and accessories portfolio products.
