CareCentrix has extended its contract with Massachusetts-based Fallon Health, a nationally recognized, not-for-profit health care services organization and a client of CareCentrix subsidiary Sleep Management Solutions (SMS) since 2009.
The three-year extension gives Fallon’s membership continued access to diagnostic testing and therapy adherence programs for sleep related disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), coordinated by SMS, the nation’s first sleep benefit manager.

“We are extremely pleased that Fallon Health continues to recognize the value we bring to their membership, particularly to those patients with sleep disorders,” says Thomas Gaffney, chief customer officer at CareCentrix, in a release. “We are committed to offering patients and caregivers higher-quality, cost-effective sleep services to include the use of home sleep testing technology. Our continued collaboration with Fallon Health helps us achieve this goal as in-home sleep tests, coordinated by SMS, typically represent an over 50% cost-savings as compared to a hospital or physician-run sleep clinic. We look forward to our continued relationship with Fallon Health.”

Since 2009, Fallon Health and SMS have helped over 11,000 patients receive sleep-related diagnostic testing in the comfort of their own home. For those members with OSA, the SMS program assists each member to get started on the right sleep therapy and then supports patient progress by remotely monitoring the data from the patient’s PAP device to help ensure the therapy is working and to intervene when the patient is experiencing difficulty. Sleep therapy has been proven to reduce the need for acute hospital admission, due to cardiovascular disease-related risks, including hypertension, stroke, and coronary heart disease.

“Fallon Health is pleased to extend our contract with SMS,” says Patrick Hughes, president and CEO of Fallon Health. “Our goal is to provide services that improve the health and well-being of our members. Working with SMS has enabled us to offer our members with sleep disorders more choices, so that they can receive the quality, cost-effective care they need in the comfort of their home.”
