Forbes asks: What is it about Sunday nights in particular that handicaps so many of us?

For some, part of what makes Sunday night insomnia a different animal than typical insomnia is a strange complicity. It’s not just that we have trouble sleeping, but we actively try to stay awake longer in a knowingly vain attempt to ward off the morning. It’s no coincidence that Sunday nights are the showcase for the best TV has to offer. The parade of engaging hour-long shows from HBO, Showtime, AMC, etc. feed our need for distraction when we’re most prone to ruminate about the new week. They’re potent medicine for what ails us, albeit temporary.
