Philips Respironics, Murrysville, Pa, now offers two new devices: the Actiwatch 2 and the Actiwatch Spectrum ambulatory actigraphy systems. Both systems incorporate elements from the company’s original Actiwatch device, but also include more advanced features. The devices allow for 24/7 wearability and can be used to analyze circadian rhythms, automatically collect and score data for sleep parameters, and assess activity in any instance where quantifiable analysis of physical motion is needed. The Actiwatch Spectrum is equipped with three color light sensors that provide irradiance and photon flux recordings in red, green, and blue, offering detailed data on the quantity of light and the kind of light a subject is receiving.
