Lucy Tonge is an 18-year-old girl who developed narcolepsy after receiving the swine flu vaccination and is seeking compensation from the government, according to the Daily Mail.

But Lucy Tonge’s hopes risk being dashed because of a medical condition that makes her fall asleep around 40 times a day.

Her narcolepsy can strike at any time – even mid-conversation – and stops the 18-year-old driving and reading books.

The lifelong brain disorder began six years ago, shortly after Lucy had the swine flu jab.

The Government admits the vaccine Pandemrix is responsible – while refusing to pay compensation. Officials decided two years ago that her disability was insufficiently serious.

She is now planning to appeal because a boy of 12 won a £120,000 payout in similar circumstances.
