Forty percent of people in the United States sleep less than 6 hours per night, David Plante, an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, tells WEAU.

Plante said the fact Americans don’t get enough sleep is a real problem from a public health standpoint.

“A lot of people think they can maybe skirt on sleep and not get as much as their bodies might need, but that’s one of the big problems we have in society today,” Plante said.
