Sleepvirtual, a subsidiary of Neurovirtual USA Inc, Doral, Fla, is launching Sleep-Rental, a service through which sleep labs can add or replace sleep diagnostic equipment without making a huge capital investment in hardware and software.

The company compares the way the new service operates to that of a cell phone business. Sleep labs pay an initial fee and then pay only on a per-study basis. Plans start with five exams a month and can cost as little as $28 per study.

The company provides type I PSG systems (compliant with new guidelines) with all sensors to run a full sleep diagnostic service. The lab pays a monthly bill according to the usage of the equipment and the chosen plan.

Sleep-Rental launches in June, and the company expects to install 1,000 beds in the next 5 years.
