Innovations in home sleep testing, CPAP therapy, and EEG were recognized for their design and usability in the international competition.

Key takeaways:

  • Onera Health, Resmed, and Somnee are among the sleep technology companies awarded the 2026 Red Dot Award for Product Design.
  • Winning products were assessed by an independent jury on functionality, aesthetics, and user experience.
  • The awards highlight a trend toward patient-centric design, moving complex diagnostics and therapies into comfortable, home-based applications.

Several sleep medicine technologies, ranging from home polysomnography (PSG) systems to CPAP masks, received the 2026 Red Dot Award for Product Design, an international competition recognizing excellence in product design.

Onera Health received the award for its Onera hPSG sensors. The patch-based, wireless sleep diagnostic system is designed to move polysomnographic readings from a clinical setting to a decentralized application. Electronics integrated into the sensor patches capture full PSG data, reducing the need for complex apparatus.

“We are thrilled to receive the Red Dot Award once again, building on the recognition we previously received for our products. This third win is a testament to our team’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of design while delivering a world-class technology that provides the gold standard of sleep testing, polysomnography (PSG), to the patient’s home. This type of recognition inspires us to continue creating products that exceed expectations—bringing PSG home with our Onera hPSG solution,” says Ruben de Francisco, founder and CEO of Onera Health, in a release.

Resmed was recognized in the Innovative Design category for its AirTouch F30i CPAP full-face mask. The jury noted that the mask combines sophisticated technology with a thoughtful selection of materials to support a restful night’s sleep for CPAP users.

“The AirTouch F30i was designed around a simple goal: making therapy more comfortable without compromising performance. We start with the patient experience and design for the real-world needs of the people using our therapy every day,” says Justin Leong, chief product officer at Resmed. “The mask’s fabric-wrapped frame is designed to create a softer feel, so it’s something people look forward to wearing night after night. This recognition reinforces our belief that thoughtful design plays an important role in creating technology that patients love to use.”

The Somnee Smart Sleep Headband also secured a Red Dot Award. The device integrates clinical-grade EEG technology into a lightweight headband for overnight wear. It utilizes hydrogel electrodes to record brain activity and enable personalized neurostimulation, while artificial intelligence analyzes the data to provide targeted support to help users fall asleep faster. The jury praised the device for translating neuroscientific findings into all-night comfort.

Other sleep-related products honored this year include the SynAura CPAP by Hefei Synaire Medical Technology Co, as well as the RXiBreeze+ APAP and PAP systems by Resvent Medical Technology Co Ltd.

The Red Dot Design Award, established in 1955, evaluates entries from over 60 countries. A jury of 40 independent experts assesses submissions based on four key principles of good design: quality of function, quality of seduction, quality of use, and quality of responsibility.
