ResMed announced its AirTouch F20 full face mask with UltraSoft memory foam mask cushion, which adapts to the contours of each patient’s face.
The PAP interface’s features include:
- Designed to reduce facial markings and skin irritation—even when sealed firmly against the skin. According to ResMed, AirTouch fits 98% of patient faces.
- Permeable foam creates a natural, breathable seal that allows some excess heat and sweat to escape through the cushion without compromising therapy pressure.
- Compatible with any CPAP, including ResMed’s new AirMini.
- Easy to maintain and designed to seal at a range of therapy pressures, and to fit the same mask frame as the AirFit F20, which uses the InfinitySeal silicone cushion—so patients can easily try and choose the material they prefer best.
“With its unprecedented comfort, the AirTouch F20 is setting a new standard for CPAP therapy,” says Mick Farrell, ResMed CEO, in a release. “Since many patients spend all night, every night sleeping with their mask, we want all patients to be as comfortable and happy with their therapy and their sleep as possible. AirTouch takes ResMed’s market-leading mask comfort to the next level.”
ResMed’s mask developers have spent the last decade perfecting its UltraSoft memory foam cushion to give patients a new choice in comfort that still seals effectively over a range of therapy pressures.
Jared Eardley, clinical supervisor at Norco Inc, a home medical equipment provider in Meridian, Idaho, says, “It’s very exciting to offer our patients something that’s truly new and different. Plus, being able to pop the cushion on to a patient’s own AirFit F20 frame will save time and hassle for both the patients and my staff—it’s a real win-win.”
U.S. and Canadian patients can order the AirTouch F20 from their home medical equipment provider already. It will be available in select countries across South America, Europe, and Asia in the coming months.
I can see how this would be comfortable and may benefit those with bony noses. Will it be hot? Or will it be heavy?
I ordered the medium airtouch cushion which cannot be washed. I understand the memory foam cushion comes off to be wiped off. Since the cushion is $59.00 to replace. Why don’t ResMed offer just the cushion replacement?
I was looking forward to upgrading to the memory foam but the refills are so prohibitively expensive that the average CPAP user won’t be able to afford them. Surely ResMed could find a more cost-effective solution i.e. just being able to replace the CUSHIONS as someone pointed out above???
Is this the latest mask or is this the one that had a big page on your website about a month ago.
Is this the Air Touch 20 series you advertised about a month ago?
The ad said “Air Touch 20 ultra soft memory foam, Our softest mask ever. This revolutionary mask series you’ve been waiting for. Introducing The Air Mask 20 series. the first masks to use ultra soft memory foam.” ETC ETC ETC
How and where do I get more/order the foam for the face mask Air Touch F20
When will this mask be available?I was told it had not yet arrived. I took a sleep test with it and it was the best mask I had ever tried
I got this mask two weeks ago. Switched from an N20 nasal mask that I had been using for 3 months. This F20 mask with memory foam has been a game changer for me. I had test fit about 10 other masks and all leaked for me, blowing in my eyes. But with this mask I have very little leaking, I am averaging around 4 to 5 l/min of leak. Yes I do have to have it pretty tight, but I can lay on my side with no leaks. The myAir score on my monitoring has not been under a 98 since I started using the F20 mask. It was always in the 70-80’s with the nasal mask. I do use a chin strap with this mask. Took a few days to get used to it and find an adjustment that works. The last few nights I have slept better than I have in years. And I don’t get up at night to use the bathroom. Before it was 2-3 times a night. I have developed a small tear in the memory foam at the bridge of the nose. This is the first F20 for me, so time will tell if it will be a repeat problem. No mask is going to be a perfect fit for everyone. But I am 100% satisfied with this will be staying with it for a while.
4 Aug 17 went to medical provider to get pressure settings reset because of new sleep study. This is when I found the F20 Air Touch mask O/A 23 Aug 17 I also noticed a tear in the bridge of the memory foam mask. I was on vacation and had to wait til 28 Aug 17 to get a replacement Air Fit F20 mask to try. It tends to slide around during sleep and have to adjust strap tightness several times a night which means i wake up at least 2 a nite. On 12 Sep rcd another Air Touch F20 and trying to see if the bridge again splits. My med provider accused me of trying to find the perfect mask, to that I say damn right. Glad someone else had bridge of F20 Air Tough split too, I’ll print off and show to my med provider. Thx John H.for info. I like it too bit if it splits it’s not sealing at the bridge of the nose.
I got the Air Touch F20 on 4 Aug 17. O/a 23 Aug I also saw a tear in the bridge of the mask which caused a leak. I was on vacation and went to Sleep Study in Ruiodo NM and they gave me a sample F20 Air Fit to try. It worked but slid around my face a little, woke up at least 2 times a nite adjusting straps to stop leak. On 12 Sep 17 got replacement Air Touch from provider. When I told them about the tear in mask accused me of trying to find the perfect mask, I said damn right. So am tying the Air Touch F20 again. I like the fit but if it tears in the bridge it doesn’t do me any good. Thx John H for your comments, I’ll print and show to my med provider who I think make up stuff. BS
I have been using ResMed equipment and masks since 2006. I like the company and their products but God forbid you may need to email or talk to them if you have a problem, they wash their hands and leave it up to your supplies provider which it could be OK if the one you have is very informed on how to solve any problem, otherwise you have to pray that everything get solved in the right way, after all it is your health that should count, sleep apnea is a serious problem and needs to be taken care by professional, not selling people! F.M.
I recently replaced my machine that i had used for 6 years with a ResMed PAP machine. I got a new AirTouch F20 mask with it. I wanted the memory foam mask, but had to take the gel mask since the provider did not have the gel model. They were supposed to mail the gel mask to me. That was over two weeks ago, and I have not received it yet.
I like the mask, but think i could get a better seal with the memory foam.
On June 20, 2018,I started using the “ResMed” air touch f20 (form)which was very user friendly. Most comfortable mask I’ve used in the last 10 plus years, but 7 days into wearing it, the form split at the bridge of the nose. I then checked the web and found that the splitting/tearing at the bridge is a common issue. I phoned ResMed and to discuss the issue and was informed that this was the first time this issue was reported to them which is incredible because of all the complaints I observed on the web. I was advised that there was a 7 day warranty period, and to take it up with my medical equip. provider. I pointed out that in my opinion based on all the complaints that
there is a flaw in the material and design.
I was unable to get to talk anyone else at ResMed. Receptionist would not transfer me to
her supervisor.
Because of the 7 day warranty my supplier did not replace the mask. I did however purchase another F20 which also split at the nose bridge this time 9 days of use. I’m thinking that it would be a good idea to make a formal complaint with the State Attorney Generals Consumer Complaint Division.
Because of the issue of splitting/tearing I can not recommend the Air Touch F20.
I too have the same problem with the mask, I’ve been through 5 replacements for the same slitting /rearing at the nose bridge area. also, I have noticed that the headband itself gets stretched out ( this may be a problem only for people with a small skull like me ) and I believe this is a tandem problem with this mask series. Once the band stretches you have to keep tightening it to get a proper seal, which eventually 1. leaves bruising on the bridge of the nose causing you to not be as compliant and 2. tear the bridge by the nose because of excessive tightening. I would be more than happy to sign a petition of some sort to help people like us get masks more often or headbands on a more frequent basis. Both would be best as one problem leads to the other.
I have had 3 foam masks tear at the bridge of my nose as well. It fits, but the foam does not adjust well to the narrow boney ridge of my nose. Any suggestions for another type of material?
Airfit f20 (non foam) wakes me up all night long with jets of air in my eyes, and the head gear is incessantly stretching. The plastic skirt seems too stiff. Do like the diffused air output. Magnetic clips for chin strap seem ok. But the old plastic clips were ok too. Overall, want to go back to quadro fx mask.
The irritation where the memory foam touches my skin has caused a drying rash that looks like psoriasis. This rash only appears where the mask touches my face. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
