ResMed today unveiled its AirMini, which packs ResMed’s CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) technology along with its comfort and ease-of-use features into a sleek, portable, pocket-sized device ideal for traveling. The AirMini is available with ResMed’s proprietary AutoSet functionality as well as a built-in humidification system for patient comfort.
AirMini weighs a 0.66 pounds (300 grams) and measures 5.4 x 3.3 x 2 in (13.6 x 8.4 x 5.2 cm).
“The ResMed AirMini has redefined CPAP therapy—providing patients with peace of mind, knowing they can easily get ResMed-quality therapy wherever they are,” says Mick Farrell, ResMed CEO, in a release. “CPAP is now more portable and accessible than ever before. I have been traveling all over the world with a prototype of the AirMini system, using AutoSet, humidification, and an AirFit P10 pillows mask, and it has changed my travel life. I am so excited to see that this technology is now available to many millions of sleep apnea patients.”
In a recent survey, 65% of CPAP users said device size is the #1 reason they don’t take their CPAP every time they travel, breaking the cycle of adherence and exposing themselves to sleep apnea’s chronic effects.
AirMini’s features include:
- A phone app (iOS and Android) for patients to change comfort settings and track their own nightly usage data, a practice that’s shown to increase compliance and health outcomes
- Portable and convenient waterless humidification to maximize comfort, capturing a patient’s exhaled heat and moisture with a HumidX humidifier in the mask tube and redelivering it to them
- Compatibility with ResMed’s AirFit N20 nasal and F20 full face masks, easy for home medical equipment providers to fit on a wide range of patients as well as a special AirMini version of the award-winning AirFit P10 nasal pillows mask.
CPAP users in the United States can contact their home medical equipment provider to place an order for the AirMini. ResMed will begin taking preorders on May 3, 2017, and AirMini will begin shipping by May 31. The technology will also be available in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, New Zealand, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
Is there an available battery pack so this could be used camping?
I would love to know this too!!!!!
Yes, the AirMini will have both battery and DC cord options. It is specifically geared towards patients who travel a lot — whether it be for work or for play!
Hi, Laura here. I’m one of the product managers for AirMini. We plan to offer a battery pack but it’s not available yet. Patients told us their top priority was size, so we developed the world’s smallest CPAP and are getting that into the hands of patients and HMEs. We’ve heard the call for a battery pack and plan to offer that as well. Stay tuned!
Harold,
Does the Airmini suffer with a similar high pitched whirring noise as with the Z1-auto CPAP in the transition between breathing in and out? I’m a disappointed owner of the Z1-auto and cannot use it because my wife can’t sleep next to me due to the noise
If NOT – then I hope to be one of the early purchasers. I travel a lot and usually restrict my baggage to carry-on.
How does the airmini compare in size and weight to the Z1-auto.
Thanks
will insurance company’s cover this? I sure hope so!!!
I sleep in a number of different positions while on CPAP at night. I currently use headgear that routes the hose up over the top of my head. Is the AirMini compatible with nasal pillows made by other companies ?
It should work. Most manf. seem to use the same size mask to hose connection. It worked with all my res med masks for sure (f10, f20, p10, p20)
Can you send info?
Is there a BPap option
The only version of this unit is the CPAP Auto, which can also be used as a set pressure CPAP.
Want to know about the compact usg
Will it work with any mask (full face) and heated hose?
It will work with a Full Face Mask. Heated hose is not an option.
Will this be covered by commercial health insurance or is this a cash pay item?
This unit is a cash item.
How loud is it? My Z1 is too loud for me.
Will this be available in the USA?
Yes, by June it will be available in the US
So how loud is it? I use the S9 because it is so quiet you don’t know it’s on. I tried the Z1 but returned it because of its incessant whine. I really need a travel size machine but can’t tolerate noise. Is the Airmini the machine I need? Is it as quiet as the S9??????
John
The noise from the mask is amazing – disruptive – like noise was over 10 years ago. It is unbelievable that they released the fabulous air mini with a mask that is triple the noise level of all the other masks they offer. I’m going to decide this week – but I think it’s now a waste of money. Portability is not worth it for disturbed sleep due to noise!
Judy….what did you end up doing with your AirMini?

Any options for a bottle of water to be attached to add humidity?
The unit re-circs breath moisture to humidify. Drink a glass of water and brush your teeth before bed and it works like a charm. No need for external water input.
Will the AirMini work for patients with complex sleep apnea as well as obstructive sleep apnea?
Probably not, if your on BiPAP your best off not trying to downgrade to a CPAP for travel. Inconvenient I know, but someone will soon make a smaller more convenient BiPAP for travelers.
A battery that is capable of at least one night and that is portable and easy to charge without a lot of extra equipment is a must with this. It is not really very portable if it must be plugged in. It would be nice if it were engineered to accept DC current and could swap batteries.
A DC adapter as I was informed is coming. The unit is very efficient and without a heater to burn battery life it should sip power. In the end this means a smaller LiPO battery pack that should last 2 or 3 days min, larger packs could go a week. I use a AS10 scouting every weekend, I have a 3lb 12V battery pack running thru the ResMed converter and it lasts 5 days before I need to charge. If Resmed didn’t have the crazy sinewave over DC verification circuit to force you to use their power supplies I would just feed 24V directly into the unit and eliminate the 12v to 24v DC converter
Hi, what 3 lb 12V battery pack do you use?
Will the AirMini work with my Dreamwear mask?
Yes, it should work no issue with the Phillips Dreamwear mask.
Read the spec sheet carefully…works with 3 Resmed masks ONLY. Wil not work with any other masks. Proprietary tubing. Resmed has been pulling this little gem for years. I’ll pass.
Interested in new travel clap with battery
What is the cost? And I do not see answers about if it is quiet. I was being transferred by Resmed to customer support to locate a local dealer and have been on hold with the terrible music for 20 minutes. Giving up.
My local provider just got these in today and they look great! Unfortunately insurance won’t cover as it is considered a portable device – so cost is over a thousand.
I work in a homecare medical supply company. We just saw the ResMed Air Mini. I love it! Super quiet, it has proprietary masks only because of the HME humidifier system in the breathing circuit. The masks do not have an exhalation component because the exhalation is in the HME within the circuit; however there is a system for the Airfit F20 which is their fullface mask system that will allow any brand of mask but there is no HME humidifier available. It does not run on batteries but there is a cigarette adaptor to plug into your vehicle which I like. You buy the machine with the mask/tubing components included. We have sold the Transcend models and I personally like the Air Mini better. It comes with a two year warranty and will eventually work with ResMed’s Airview data management program so you can see how the patient is doing with the device.
Can you have a air mini to use for travel and to keep by my chair and the airmed 10 auto set for by the bed?
What will be the cost of the ResMed AirMini when it becomes available? How soon can I expect to receive it? Will it ship quickly? Can I purchase it now?
Does Air Mini have an Apap function ?
Yes these can be used as a CPAP or APAP machine via the Autoset function.
ResMed touts the unit as approved and useable inflight. Prior to release of the travle battery, how can it now be used during air travel?
Received my AirMini today, tried it for a few moments and is so noisy on the humidifying cartridge that I am returning it tomorrow.Too noisy to let you sleep or use it on a plane
V. dissapointed
Hi Jes,
I have traveled on a plane with my CPAP and the airlines allocated me a seat with a power outlet. That is why these machines are travel approved.
Cheers,
A battery pack is not available right now but there should one in the upcoming months.
I got my AirMini yesterday and returned it today.
V.noisy on humidyfying cartridge, will be impossible to use with other person sleeping in the same room or in a plane cabin,
AirMini dealer was fantastic, understood a problem and refunded money. In my opinion, product is not completly finished yet
Hi Viro,
I got my AirMini yesterday with the Airfit N20 mask. I slept with it last night and initially found the exhalation noise quite load and distracting too. I realize that it is because the AirMini is so quiet that the exhalation noise is more noticeable. I have it on Autoset mode and selected the 30 min ramp up. I was able to fall asleep and slept well. If you are in an airplane, the amount of noise around you would easily drown out the noise from the exhalation port. I don’t know how much noise the P10 or F20 mask will make. The F20 mask can’t be used with the Humidy X, so I am not sure if it would make the same noises. Great machine for it’s size.
Cheers from Australia
Randy
Hi Randy,
I am glad that you agree it is noisy. Point is I am putting mask on my nose not AirMini machine. And mask makes the noise on my face.
Your comment “If you are in an airplane, the amount of noise around you would easily drown out the noise from the exhalation port” DOES NOT MAKE A SENSE. You may as well travel on farm tractor and you would not hear AirMini.
But I travel on Qantas whisper quiet airplanes not Russian ANTONOVs and can not afford embarrassment in Business or Economy Class .
Anyway, dealer read me a message from Resmed advising that it would take a number of days to get to use to the noise – glad I got my money back.
I am happy now with my old machine .
Have a good sleep,
Cheers from Qld, Australia
I saw the new air mini at the sleep clinic on the weekend and I am considering buying it cause of its size and being able to use it on a plane. however reading the reviews I am now concerned about the noise, as I travel and it would be great on the plan. I currently use the S9 and its quite and I love this machine compared to the others on the market. I might wait for resmed to iron out the issues with the noise on the mini from what users are saying
Hi Claude,
Got mine yesterday with P10 mask. The unit itself is very quiet, but the mask, and specifically the new exhaust with the humidx was horribly loud up close to the face so no escape. Very strong plastic smell too. WAF at 0% and I could not sleep through it anyway, switched back to S9 with regular P10 after 2.5hrs. Silence in comparison. I could see that it would be useful on a plane, but if traveling with spouse, you would have to take both or be thrown out of the hotel room. Going back today.
P10 is not responsible for the noise. I adapted a Swift FX to the P10 tubing, and it makes just as much noise with the AirMini. It was totally quiet with the S9. So it is the new motor in the AirMini that sends too much airflow into the mask, for the same pressure as the S9. Maybe a sign of poor mechanical design?
Hi Laura,
It’s been 1-1/2 months since you stated the battery pack is forthcoming. Any timeline?
Also, any solution to attenuating the noise yet?
Thanks.
Jeremy
People have complained about the noise from the HumidX. Would it be quieter without the humidifier?
It would be a dream to use without the humidifier as all the noise comes from this but the hoses are made not to be interchangeable so you currently can’t use the airmini without HumidX unless you tape different hoses together and then you may be a bit dry?
I am delighted with my newly received Rusmed Airmini. I found past reviews quite misleading. Compared to my 5 year old previous Rusmed CPAP, it is a quarter of the weight and baggage space. I slept better, felt better, and my restless leg syndrome has disappeared. My partner says it makes little sound and it doesn’t give the annoying air-rush and light up of the predecessor when the mask is taken off. The complaints about the chemical smell of a newly unwrapped Airmini proved trite. They clean out with 30 minutes of use. An excellent product at $1,800. Well done Rusmed and CPAP Products Perth.
What a great device. Just got it a week ago and it is awesome!! No more hunting for distilled water. No more carrying a bulky cpap. Thanks Resmed!
I must decide by Tuesday whether to get mini iPap Just concerned about noise. Any comments would be gratefully received. My hubby and I sleep separately so it’s just me concerned by noise reports. We also travel by plane soon to Europe which is why I am interested( business class)
Thanks in advance for any help.
I use a Tap Pap nasal pillow mask. The ResMed literature says you can ONLY use their tubing and mask. Some commentators are saying that I can still connect my Tap Pap mask to the ResMed tubing. Which is true?
I’ve been using the Air Mini as a travel CPAP for intercontinental trips and weeks in hotels… My at home CPAP is a Resmed AirSense 10 autoset. I really like the portability of the unit. Love the device… butt there are some major issues with electrical plug decisions…
The huge wall wart plug is too heavy and vibrates out of airline business class plugs due to its weight. It’s also almost impossible to use with international plug adapters… also pulling itself out of the outlets.
In two Pan-Pacific flights, the electrical draw from the unit tripped the breaker in the business class seating. Are they exceeding what the airlines allow?
Since the A.C. plug is almost useless AND theyve chosen a proprietary a.c. connection to the device, when will they release a battery or replacement ac adapter more like the airsense 10 power supply?
I want to use this expensive device… but resmed choices in powering it should have been figured out in testing…. right now I have to use a 2 foot extension cord to reduce the weight on the ac outlets. Remember that hotel and plane outlets are usually loose due to their insertion overuse.
90% awesome ruined by stupid engineering ignorance of primary use cases.
I’m glad others have reported the HumidX extreme noise levels as I thought I was the only one with a problem, as most review sites didn’t mention noise. I have always used an N20 with a Icon+ and was excellent but, like everyone else wanted something portable and water free. AirMini machine is incredible, great, brilliant and worth all the hype. Masks to suit AirMini are badly engineered and designed as they emit a large amount of noise in the HumidX module on the N20 even without a cartidge and the F20 has a similar module near the face but no HumidX system and is noisy. The noise is intolerable and it makes the machine a total loss until new HumidX modules are designed and produced to eliminate noise.
Back it goes till masks and modules are re-engineered to eliminate most of the noise.
Alan
I thought no trials, no returns on airmini. Really would like to try it, but afraid I’d noise
Agree. Why not post the cost and ordering information?
I have been using the Airmini as my home machine for 3 days. I use the F20 full face mask with no humidification. The mask is the best I have ever used with no mask leaks whatsoever and very little noise. The machine is extremely quiet – much more so than my Phillips Respironics that I have been using for the past 7 years. I bought this for travel but am now considering using it on a permanent basis. Waiting for the battery!!
Problem though is with the app for my phone. It reported that I had only slept for 21 mins last night when I went to bed at 10pm – got up at 11 for 5 mins went back to sleep until 7:15am. The previous 2 nights the app was accurate. Will see what tonight brings.
Is your mask the AirTouch F20 or the AirFit F20? I want to buy an AirMini but am hesitant because of the reports of excessive noise from the masks. I have decided to avoid the nasal and pillow masks for that reason.
I could find no information as to differences in air flow or exhaust between the AirTouch an the AirFit masks.
It was comforting to read a positive review.
The Mask is the Airfit F20 that comes with the machine. I previously had an Airfit F10 which I used with the Respironics with very little success. I also use the gel nose pad to prevent the constant red mark on the bridge of my nose that I get with any mask. This may assist with the lack of leakage. My reading every night for mask fit has been 20/20 and I havent been woken by leaks which I did with my previous mask. My problem with software had fixed itself by the time I went to bed that night – maybe I didnt give it enough time to read correctly. Still very impressed!
I have had the airmini for a week and have not had one night sleep.
Issues:
1. The humidifier is like a jet engine.
2. I feel like they is insufficient air flow – yes the pressure was set correctly by the vendor, I’ve turned off the ramping,.
3 I tried the new mask in the clinic but attached to another machine without the humidifier- totally silent – was this deliver?
As a background I have used a Resmed (S7) for about 15 years and have fallen asleep in minutes every night and felt comfortable with airflow always.
The unit goes back!
Note it is 1.59 am

I’ve had my Resmed Mini for about 2 weeks. I love the size,it’s quiet & comfortable. I got the P-10 pillow mask which is great and fits well…However, I wake up every night with extreme burning in my nose and sinuses after a couple hours. I’ve tried changing the HumidX disks, used saline nasal spray with no relief.
Any suggestions on relief? I need a travel CPAP.
Hi Jane,
Try using the Humid X Plus disc. If this still doesn’t work, it could be because you are mouth breathing, go and see your local CPAP technician.
Try some type of sav like neosporyn or vasaline to keep your nose from drying out.
Regarding the recommendation by “Rex”…. Neither are correct ones:
– Neosynephrine increases dryness (a vasocontrictor, no matter what version is used.
– Vaseline should NEVER be used as the petroleum distillates will rapidly degrade silicone (component of most masks).
Most CPAP sites sell moistening creams which work fairly well, but do not work high up in the nasal barbiturates or mouth.
Rex didn’t say Neosynephrine (spray nasal decongestant.) He said Neosporin (antibiotic ointment.)
There are saline-only nasal sprays which I have used in the past but to little success. They don’t last the whole night.
Picking up my AirMini tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed.
There are a lot of travel CPAP machines available like ResMed, HDM Z1 CPAP. Please buy as per your requirements. I have purchased my HDM Z1 CPAP machine form CPAPUSA with a good discount.
Hi all
Just wanted to post my experience with the mini.
I was nervous about buying one as there seemed to be a lot of people having problems with it and noise seemed to be a major issue.
I live in Scotland in the U.K. So my Resmed S9 Autoset is provided and maintained for free including all supplies but they don’t supply the mini so I would have to pay for this myself on an ongoing basis.
I travel for work every week and it’s a real pain taking the S9 around and it’s also showing signs of wear and tear from the constant travel.
When I took the plunge and got it and first put it on my wife asked if I had switched it on as it was much quieter than my S9.
In terms of the humidix I am still using the standard one and since being in the USA on holiday have actually noticed some moisture in it when I wake up. I have had no problems with my nasall cavities drying out nor being sore and crusty and in fact have an improved experience over my S9 with the humidifier.
I would recommend anyone who needs this unit to give it a try and check out your own experience with it as we are all different.
I’m very glad I did as it works really well for me and the portability and simplicity of setup and use is great.
Is there anyway to connect the AirMini to the Freedom CPAP battery? I am guessing I would need to use the SINEWAV adapter? Thanks
Hi- purchased an air mini two days. Intolerable noise- why did they put that opening so close to your face and not further down the tubing. Returning it tomorrow- too bad, such a cute, small, practical, machine!
Graduating from an S9, I purchased an AirMini, particularly for travel. The N20 mask is the best that I have used, and I have wasted too much money getting to this conclusion. The compact unit takes up little space in hand luggage while the rest of the equipment goes into the case, a huge improvement on the bulky S9 in hand luggage. I detect in some of the above comments an impatience with the machine. It takes time to get used to any machine such as this and after all, what is the end in view? Yes, there is some air noise, but the other attributes far outweigh the disadvantages, especially for travel. How good is is not having to clean and refill a humidifier daily? Yes, it is going to take time to work out which of the Humidx capsules is best (or none at all), but I suspect that it depends on the ambient room temperature. Some guidance from ResMed on this would be good. Anyway, I love it, and if you are asleep, you won’t hear air noise! And if your partner does hear it, it is much quieter than your snoring and gasping for air as you stop breathing 50 times an hour.
I did not know that I could use the AirMini without the HumidX, which I suspect causes allergic reactions of sneezing and nose running. I don’t find the AirMini too noisy. The only thing that deters me from using if is that it causes violent sneezing and nose running. If anyone knows of a way to avoid these side affects, I will be happy to use my AirMini in all my travels.
Not perfect but on balance good for me.
I was going to take it back on first night but give it a full week.
My tech suggested putting machine on a folded up towel and so my quieter!
yes the air-noise is louder but the pros of portability and no water are just outstanding.
The standard disc is fine for me so far.
The unit itself is very quiet and has some good features like auto start/stop but the mask exhaust with the humidx is incredibly loud. If you need quite to fall asleep, the humidx will keep you awake. You’ll need sleeping pills so you’ll have no choice but to sleep. I waited to long to return the unit so I’m hoping ResMed will read and heed the dissatisfaction customers have with the noise.
I don’t think it’s the HumidX that is noisy; I bought the mini with the full face mask that is incompatible with the humidity disk (talk about beggars can’t be choosers!) and it’s noisy too. I was told it’s the connection between the hose and the mask. The humidity disk, not available for all masks, isn’t the source of the noise.
Disappointed with the noise of the nose mask. Medical store will refund me the $880. But not the cost of the hose, mask, & humidix.
Linda, where did you buy the Mini that they will take a return? Everywhere I look, there’s a no return policy once the unit is opened. Thanks.
Just bought my AirMini AutoSet with P10 AirMini mask 4 days ago. I tried it in the Dr office and was amazed at how quiet it was and decided to buy it. After 4 nights, I’m very pleased with it. It is very quiet.
It’s too bad that this is touted as a portable unit because that is what is why insurance won’t pay for it. Oddly enough, without a battery, it is no more portable than the S9 I have replaced it with. Insurance companies…baloney! I wonder, however, if they will cover the consumables like masks, hoses, and humidity discs.
I was excited to get my hands on this for overseas travel. Once purchased, though, I found I could not tolerate it. I started with the full face mask since that’s what I use with my Air Sense 10. After 2 hours’ use my mouth, throat and sinuses were so dry I could barely close my mouth. I turned it off spending the rest of my night without any therapy. Next day I replaced their face mask with their nasal version employing their standard HumidX disc. Same thing. After 2 hours or so, completely dried out, I turned it off, switching back to my Air Sense. I returned to my provider asking them to make sure everything was correctly set. I even went to my doctor’s office to make sure I had no physical issues. All properly checked out. Tried it with HumidX Plus disc. Same thing. 2 hours later, totally dried out and barely able to breathe without coughing, I turned it off going back to my Air Sense. I find it hard to believe there aren’t more dissatisfied customers with this product. Yes, the noise level is greater than my Air Sense but not all that bad. Its lack of humidity is my biggest issue. My provider will not accept my return of this product. While my provider’s staff did as well as they could, no one warned me about dryness issues. They enthusiastically and pleasantly helped me double check all setting but they will not budge on my return request. Make sure you have a grand or more to throw down the rabbit hole after chasing this thing around.
Hi Neil – I’m sorry to hear of your troubles here. I can feel your “pain” on squandering nearly a grand on a new tech Resmed mini travel APAP/CPAP machine! I too, have the same exact concerns as you have. Dryness with lack of effective humidification I also must have. Otherwise, I don’t want it. And, my Airsense 10 seems to fill the bill for this. If I were you, I’d be squawking to Resmed on this. Maybe they’ll make some sort of allowances. It’s worth a try and contacting them. It might take some more pain, but I thoroughly understand. Especially when insurance isn’t paying and no one else seems to give a damn about your well being. Except yourself and family. I hope you prevail! I do.
Neil
What did you end up doing with your AirMini?
I am respiratory therapist for a Medical equipment company and we carry the Airmini. I have 20 years experience in the sleep industry (sleep lab, pulmonology office and home life support). I bought one for myself for travel and I am so disappointed with the loud noise from the P10 nasal pillows exhalation and humidification area. I recently took it to on a trip and the hotel room was very quiet and it kept me awake so I just took it off. It is almost like you have to fall asleep without it and wake up half asleep to put it on. I am disappointed and will let our Resmed marketing rep know when he comes into our office. I tried to place an inline pediatric hme we use on our vent patients but the design of the tubing will not let me. I guess I will have to purchase the Respironics portable cpap and sell this one.
Curious if you liked the Respironics? I purchased the airmini and was too noisy for me and my wife. The machine was quite but the humidifier that you were referring too was loud. Seems the Dreamstation go does not have that? Just looking for comparisoin before i buy another travel cpap.
Air mini. Size is great. UNIT itself is quiet. HOWEVER, the noise from humidifier portion is absolutely ridiculous. Darth Vader description is dead on. How this made it to production is baffling. When I called Resmed the tech basically said “aware of it, however, no solution or know if one is coming.” Expected more from ResMed. Wish I could bypass and use my AirSense P10 mask on this which is a great mask but not the AirMini. Too bad, unit is great but bad design for mask and humidity chamber that cannot be taken off.
Hi everyone of AirMini, both my husband and I were caught up on the hype, compact and small, no water, great for travelling, after a trail with a N20 mask and a sleepless night due to noise and having air hissing along with condensation in the tube that dripped when I made a bathroom visit as well as in the morning when removing the tubing. After the trail we complained of the problems and were told by the representative that it was due to the exceptionally cold nights we were having and to try without the filter. My husband is not an insomniac so with a washer over his face to stop the hissing and dripping he has persisted with the AirMini. I decided to keep mine for the warmer months and for travel. I am not happy, the dry nose and mouth causing me to drink several times during the night. The mask hurts my cheek bones when I sleep on my side, the other masks don’t suit my nose. I am sorry I purchased mine and will go back to my original S9. So that’s my winge, engineers should have done more research on the masks so called to suit the machine before launching the AirMin. Otherwise I can’t complain about my original machine, quiet, no dry nose or mouth, just bulky to travel with.
I’ve had mine now for 2 months & whilst it is a bit noisy, my main gripe is with the Bluetooth not re-connecting. I have updated the App to the latest version & de/re-installed it several times but to no avail.
I found if I pull out the power momentarily it reboots & I have a connection again, however I’m sure that’s not how it’s meant to work. I have sent feedback via the App, but with no response. I guess the feedback is only one way assistance -with us assisting them. Then again, that may only be feedback for the App developers & not ResMed themselves?
I have the same problem with my machine. Every night I have to unplug it and plug it back in again for connect to Bluetooth. Very annoying.
I used the AirMini for the first time last night. OMG! I have the F20 full mask and the noise coming out of the mask is intolerable! It’s really annoying every time you exhale. I’m returning it and going back to using my AirSense 10 which is almost silent.
I have just purchased the Air Mini with the P10 Air Mini Mask and found although the unit itself is extremely quite the P10 Air Mini Mask is fairly noisy. The P10 standard Mask which I use on my daily machine is very quite. Is the a way that I can connect the standard P10 mask to my Air Mini as I do not need or ever used a humidifier?
I like the Air Pillow nasal masks for the mini BUT the thin double band that holds it on your head has no adjustment whatsoever. Mine is really lose so the nasal pillows frequently slip off my nostrils – a bad design fault.
Hi Steve
Both my P10 standard & P10 AirMini masks came with 2 adjusters. Maybe still in your box. They were in a small plastic packet.
regards
Tony
There have been recurring problems for me with the AirMini. I’ve tried both HMEs and without one. Each usage results in irritated sinuses, a tickling sensation that causes multiple sneezes with excessive nasal precipitation. It feels like being in the full throes of hay fever. This condition lasts for 24 hours before subsiding. Whether the machine is used in the air or at home the result is the same. I had the machine examined and readjusted but to no avail. During the past week I have phoned ResMed tech support; each time I received a warning that “the call volume is extremely high and wait times could be at least 30 minutes”. This is an understatement. 1st x = 90 minutes. 2nd x = 120 minutes. 3rd time was during their first work hour in the early morning. I suspect that this message is a simple default and wonder if there is truly any customer service with regard to addressing problems. (ResMed, if you’re reading this, please prove me wrong by contacting me.) One of the nurses in my CPAP doctor’s office said that the problem is due to not getting enough humidity. If any reputable professional has any advice, I would appreciate your suggestions.
I have the same problem with my Air Mini…extremely dry sinuses, congestion and sneezing for many hours after using the Air Mini. I’ve used the Humid X tablets (brand new each time), and the result is always the same. This machine was a very expensive mistake. Not happy about the noise it makes while using, either.
I have had recurring problems like you describe on the last four times we have travelled and each time has just about been a nightmare. Only after one night I started sneezing, nose running incessantly and this went on for the whole trip. I was embarrassed by it and felt unwell. Last night we were away for one night and today I am feeling shocking so began looking for this site to see if there were any reviews.
They have poor customer service for this product. I wear an extra small size pillow. The air mini p10 hose accessories only come with small, medium, and large. When I emailed them they said they don’t provide them and that I need to order that size separately. That means any time I pay for replacement hoses I have to pay extra. I wouldn’t have order it if that was the case. This is an expensive unit to not have all the necessary sizes for everyone.
So I purchased this machine for compact travel but i hate the fact i have to have a 6ft tube and then another tube attachment with makes no sense at all since the whole idea was to make it easier to carry…the tubing takes up more space than the whole machine and since I’m traveling I have to curl it up and it’s so flimsy it rips a hole in the tube and then I have to pay 40 bucks for a new one every time …resmed you are dumb for doing this! Gonna return and get the other brand that allows me to use a standard tube and change them as often as I like…greedy = stupid= return = no money for you!
I wish that I had read the comments on this site. I purchased the ResMed AirMini since we do a lot of traveling. The machine itself is quiet. The cartidge holder, whether with or without a humidity cartridge, causes a rising and falling hissing sound with the P10 nasal pillows that was not conducive to sleep. Buy it if you are hard of hearing and your partner is as well. Why can’t the engineers at ResMed come up with a hiss-proof air system?
I purchased the Airmini last May. I tried the nasal masks and I could not make them work. I use the F20 full face mask on my Respironics home unit with humidification, so I exchanged the N20 setup pack for an F20 setup. I fwas under the impression that Resmed would soon develop a work around to the issue of compatability between the full face mask and the HumidX. The primary reason for purchasing the Airmini over other much less expensive travel CPAP products was the Humidx humidification feature. During the spring and summer, using the Airmini without humidification was tolerable, although each morning I awoke with a sore throat that eventually went away. Now that we’re into the fall, for me, the lack of humidification makes it impossible to use the Airmini. In addition, the Airmini is so noisy that it keeps my wife awake at night… which keeps us both awake.
I have spoken with Resmed. They say they have no plans to make any improvements to address the noise or the ability to use the HumidX with a full face mask. But, they won’t say why and they can’t or won’t offer a work around. When I ask to speak with their technical support, the CS person says that Resmed does not allow customers to speak directly with their engineers or tech support. What kind of company is this that it has so little regard for it’s customers satisfaction with their product? I will never buy another Resmed product again and I greatly regret spending well over $1,000 on the Airmini.
I also purchased the air Resmed mini, I do like the fact that I can pack it in my carry on with everything else and usually don’t have to pull it out and display for customs It works fine except the noise from the exhaust of the P10 My wife and I are forced to use ear plugs to sleep which I do not feel secure in doing. I would like to be more aware of my surroundings should there be a fire or break-in.
let me know of any improvements. Ron
The noise from the air mini is almost like dealing with snoring. So sad ResMed has no plans to fix this issue.
I agreed!!!
I read in another thread that there is a legitimate reason (i.e. that it’s not a marketing ploy, aka Apple) for the use of proprietary tubing for the Airsense Mini. Something about that the exhaust capability that is in the tubing of other Resmed stuff isn’t possible for the Mini as the Mini cannot provide enough ?venting? due to the “exhaust grating” isn’t enough in non-proprietary tubing or even larger Resmed tubing. So in other words, they integrated the ?exhaust? capability into the software of the Mini and exclude it in tubing. So, does that mean the aftermarket cheapo tubing adaptor that you can get on Amazon might be dangerous?
