SOMNOmedics has developed its SOMNOwatch Eco actigraph, a timely alternative for sleep and circadian clinicians and researchers looking to replace the discontinued Philips Actiwatch.

“Actigraphy in general, has been proven to be a reliable and easy-to-apply method to gather information on the circadian rhythm of patients. The acceptance level for the patients is high since these devices are lightweight and easy to wear in their daily routine,” says L. Janson Lanier, director of sales –  Western US, at SOMNOmedics America Inc.

“Actigraphy serves as a valuable tool in sleep research and clinical practice. Researchers use it to study various sleep disorders, such as insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, and sleep apnea. Clinicians rely on actigraphy to assess patients’ sleep patterns outside of the laboratory setting, offering a more comprehensive understanding of their sleep habits.”

Highlighted specs of the SOMNOwatch eco include:

  • sampling rate up to 256 Hz
  • waterproof
  • built-in rechargeable battery
  • battery life during regular use is up to 6 weeks
  • storage capacity is 1GB (enables the user to extend the recording when the device is charged in between)
  • USB-C cable for charging and data transfer.

SOMNOwatch eco comes with SOMNOmedics’ DOMINO Light software, which allows the user to program the device, download the recording to the PC, and conduct an analysis of the data recorded. The physician can then generate a report using the default templates and can also customize the report to fit their needs. The report can then be stored in standard formats like PDF or exported using an optional HL7 connection.
