Snoring is a common problem that many of us experience, but it’s not usually something to worry about, reports The Independent.
However, if you regularly snore at night, it can disrupt the quality of our sleep leading to extreme fatigue, irritability and increased health problems.
And, if your snoring keeps your partner awake, it can also put a huge strain on your relationship.
In 2017, a Bupa survey looking into the sleeping habits of 2,000 UK adults found that a third of people who struggled to sleep said their partner was to blame.
The article states, “it’s not usually something to worry about,”.
Studies show:
1. Significant, chronic snoring can cause strong vibrations in the throat areas.
2. The carotid artery is very close to the airway.
3. The vibrations can cause the lining of the carotid artery to become inflammed.
4. The inflammed lining attracts plaque formation.
5. The plaque can break off and go to the brain causing a stroke.
6. A stroke IS CERTAINLY a health issue to “worry about”!
A person with significant snoring should at least obtain an ultrasound of their carotid arteries to check for plaque formation.
