His career could be cut short because, he claims, the Mullica Township Police Department won’t allow him to work a schedule which would help him to manage his sleep apnea and other medical conditions, according to NJ.com.

“I just want to finish out my career serving the residents of Mullica Township as I have done so proudly for the past 18-and-a-half years,” Sarraf said. “Unfortunately I have to take my health into consideration because my employer refuses to.”

The battle between Sarraf and police officials went public last week when his supporters, including his wife Barbara, spoke out at a township committee meeting Tuesday night.

Barbara Sarraf says in addition to sleep apnea, her husband suffers from a rare blood disorder along with diabetes. All of these prevent him from safely working overnight shifts.
