The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) has approved The American Board of Anesthesiology’s (ABA’s) application for sponsorship of subspecialty certification in Sleep Medicine.

The Sleep Medicine Subspecialty Certification Program is jointly developed by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Family Medicine, the American Board of Otolaryngology, and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. The American Board of Internal Medicine administers the exam, which is offered every 2 years to candidates from all Boards. The 2011 exam will be held on November 10.

The ABA has posted application requirements and details and will accept applications from April 1 to June 1 for the 2011 exam.
