Sommetrics, a company providing products and services to improve sleep quality, has partnered with AvantSleep to distribute the Sommetrics sleep apnea therapy system, aerSleep, to Canadians diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). AvantSleep will distribute aerSleep in select Canadian markets, followed by a full Canadian launch in 2018.

Sommetrics recently announced its aerSleep system received a Health Canada Medical Device License, allowing it to be marketed in Canada. Sommetrics’ aerSleep uses negative external air pressure to successfully treat OSA.

“At Sommetrics, we’re committed to optimizing sleep quality for all,” says Richard Rose, MD, Sommetrics’ CEO and board chair, in a release. “Our partnership with AvantSleep in Canada further solidifies our commitment to providing effective and well tolerated sleep disorder solutions to a global market in need of better ways to treat OSA.”

Kosta Tsambourlianos, president of AvantSleep, says, “Sommetrics’ innovative, new technology allows us to offer products to our patients that are unlike anything on the market. The entire AvantSleep team aligns with the company’s focus on providing Canadians more therapy options for the management of OSA.”

Sommetrics’ aerSleep system utilizes proprietary aer+ technology, which applies negative external pressure to maintain an open airway during sleep. The system’s soft collar and integrated silent vacuum pump allows sleep in virtually all positions, has no hoses or mask, and is non-invasive, comfortable, highly portable, and cordless.
