A letter to the editor in The Jersey Journal expresses concern for people who use CPAP machines during the coronavirus pandemic and the challenges they may face if they are unable to buy distilled water.
With the present coronavirus pandemic, American people have rushed to supermarkets and finished the inventory of distilled water which is essential for CPAP machines to work. If tap water is used the machine eventually breaks down.
Suggestion: Distilled water must be dispensed with a prescription by a physician and controlled by the pharmacy of supermarkets and the neighborhood pharmacies.
Regarding Rx for distilled water why put monkey on doctors back as if we don’t have enough to do! May be DME company who provides CAP supplies could get involved in this and make some extra money.
On the same note Mr. Patel: Don’t put the onus on the DME’s who are already burdened with infinitesimal details obtaining prescriptions and documentation for supplying CPAP machines and supplies. Furthermore requiring an rx for distilled water is beyond absurd.
What about those of us who use DI water for non-medical purposes? Those of us who quilt or sew use it in our irons. We don’t want this resource to become more expensive and have the vendors to have to meet the stringent requirements of the FDA . Thanks, but I would like inexpensive water.
