First published in 2018, the book Understanding Sleeping Pills by Wallace B. Mendelson, MD, has recently been updated.

The updated edition of Understanding Sleeping Pills includes an expanded section on dual orexin receptor antagonist hypnotics, with updates throughout on research and clinical practice.

The book is written broadly enough to be a helpful introduction for sleep medicine trainees, students, and mental health workers with non-technical backgrounds and to serve as a patient resource.

A new text font and layout is designed for easier reading.

The updated book may be purchased on Amazon.com.

Mendelson is a retired professor of psychiatry and clinical pharmacology at the University of Chicago, former director of the Sleep Research Laboratory at the University of Chicago, and past president of the Sleep Research Society.
