Michael N. Cannizzaro is named vice chairman, president, and CEO of Sunrise Medical Inc, Carlsbad, Calif.
Cannizzaro has served as CEO of several healthcare businesses including Insight Health Services, National Nephrology Associates and Beltone Electronics Corporation. Most recently, he was operating partner at J.W. Childs Associates, a Boston-based private equity firm where he advised on the acquisition and management of a variety of healthcare companies.
“We are greatly pleased to be able attract an executive of the caliber and experience of Mike Cannizzaro. The timing of Mike’s appointment relates directly to the evolution of our business strategy and direction,” said Sunrise chairman Michael N. Hammes.
Sunrise—which had recently spun off Dynavox Systems and Joerns Healthcare–will be run as two separate divisions, Sunrise Mobility and DeVilbiss Healthcare. Cannizzaro will be directly responsible for the Mobility business which is operated by brands such as Quickie and Sopur. Cannizzaro will also oversee DeVilbiss.
