Sleep and neurology diagnostics equipment manufacturer Sleepvirtual/Neurovirtual launches a rental program for its polysomnography (PSG) devices this month. The company developed the program “to make upgrading accessible to a broader population of sleep labs and physicians, for who the cost of purchase has become prohibitive, due to the many cuts in reimbursements over the years,” it said in an emailed statement.

Neurovirtual states that the program may also appeal to sleep labs and physicians for whom volumes vary more greatly. “The flexibility to rent equipment year-to-year can be advantageous, since you can plan for volumes and reimbursements for the next 12 months, rather than worry about forecasting for 5+ years while you pay off a purchase,” it states.

“This rental program may also be an excellent option for physicians who plan to retire in the next year or two, but need to continue offering their patients services with the latest available technology.”

The rental packages start at $399/month per bed.
