After crossing the 1,000 threshold for accredited sleep labs, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) continues to certify sleep centers, most recently accrediting the Charlotte Hungerford Regional sleep laboratory at the Winsted Health Center, an article in the Republican-American reports. According to the report, the Charlotte Hungerford sleep laboratory was the initial hospital-based lab in northwest Connecticut and treats an annual average of 450 patients. Accreditation for the laboratory is granted for 5 years.
