More than 40 National Sleep Foundation (NSF) representatives spent February 11 in the halls of Congress, engaging in 55 meetings with US Senators and Representatives about important sleep advocacy areas. As part of the 2015 NSF Washington Sleep Leadership Summit, the NSF sparked discussions centered on sleep in the military, sleep and older adults, and school start times. Attendees—sleep leaders who included physicians, business owners, technologists, and researchers—were received warmly and were able to address specific sleep issues for congressional staff, according to the NSF.

NSF brought Summit attendees to Washington from all over the United States and offered a full day of highly informative talks on sleep health issues, including addresses by US Rep Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) on her school start times legislation, Zzz’s to A’s, and National Transportation Safety Board Acting Chairman Christopher Hart.
