Dr Richard Simon is adding his voice to the push for later school start times, reports the Union Bulletin.

Simon said the earlier start times of high schools and middle schools in the Walla Walla Valley and across the nation coincide with a shift in sleep cycles for teenagers that causes them to become “night owls,” thus creating “the absolute perfect storm for human dysfunction.”

Simon’s talk was presented by the parenting group The Moms’ Network of Walla Walla, which recently paired with the national advocacy group Start School Later.
