Firefighters in Kentwood, MI, are participating in an educational program aimed at preventing infant deaths, according to Wood TV 8.

DOSE, Direct on Scene Education, educates firefighters on what to look for and how to inform parents and caregivers on how to promote safe infant sleeping habits while on a call.

When firefighters arrive at a burning building, they size it up by taking a look around for safety concerns.

This program has a similar approach.

If a crew is called to a medical emergency, they will take care of the patient. After the ambulance leaves, they ask to look around, paying attention to the cues and clues that tells them a child stays in the home.
