A small study suggests that sleep apnea patients may have impaired attention and decision-making ability, even if they are being treated with CPAP, reports Reuters.
“These individuals do not respond to treatment, and eventually will drop CPAP because they do not feel better,” said lead study author Ksdy Werli of the Federal University of Sao Paulo in Brazil.
“We chose to study this issue aiming to understand the real difficulties of these patients,” Werli said by email.
Being treated and being compliant are two different things. CPAP users need to be using their CPAP’s every night and using it at the very minimum of four hours. Quite actually they need to be using it ALL night. During REM your neuro transmitters rebuild. If you are not using your CPAP during the morning REM period you are not getting the benefit of that REM time, so of course your memory and thinking will be foggy.
Do this trial again with people that are REALLY compliant and show me those numbers.
