A new study reveals that a third of New Zealanders are struggling with sleep, according to Stuff.co.nz.

Researchers say the estimated 1.5 million people struggling with sleep were less likely to lead happy and healthy lives.

But the good news is the AUT University wellbeing study also revealed some key ingredients to a better night’s sleep.

Magic pills and fad diets won’t work – it’s all about combining a number of healthy habits.

Study co-author Kate Prendergast said if you’re not getting enough sleep, you’re also less likely to be eating healthy and exercising.

“It’s about taking a whole lifestyle approach.”

People should aim to tick off the following habits for improving health, happiness and sleep.
