Obstructive sleep apnea therapy Provent, which uses expiratory positive airway pressure to keep airways open, has been discontinued, as of June 1, 2020. For patients who are currently using Provent, they can continue to use until their current supply runs out or expires. (The last batch made expires Sept 16, 2023.)
According to an announcement on Provent’s website:
We’ve seen our sales steadily rise, we’ve grown our sales outlets in the US and around the world, and we’ve enjoyed letters and comments from many happy users who have depended on Provent to treat their OSA successfully with a convenience that is still unparalleled by any other product.
Unfortunately though our costs to manufacture and market Provent have been rising steadily as well; and with the current uncertainty around the world we cannot guarantee manufacturing dates or quality moving forward.
Our current inventory of Provent has been depleted and so it is with heavy hearts that we are announcing an end to our company; and the end of the manufacturing life for the Provent Sleep Apnea Therapy product.
I am sick that you have discontinued the greatest invention since sliced bread or the auto. Please start production back!!!
hi James, I am a researcher doing some research on this device. would like to chat with you about Provent use and what you like or dislike. we offer an honorarium for your time. if you are interested, send me an email to [email protected]
Thanks, Harry
I would be very interested in a provent therapy which was so easy to use.
I understand that someone else is undertaking manufacturing. If this is true, please let me know. Kaiser system wants to know!
Provent was the best! Now what do I use that’s comparable? I can’t find anything and the thing I did find gave me adverse reactions. What else is equal to Provent?
Our Provent supplier suggested Bongos. My husband tried them and they just don’t work like Provent did.
Please either manufacture Provent again or get someone else to do it. I’ve used this product for years successfully. I hate CPAP machines and never could use one. Provent is perfect, and I shall soon be out of them. Provent is the best; why stop something so superior?
I still find it very odd that market demand, and surely willingness to pay a higher price to cover “steadily rising manufacture and market costs” and a pad against “current uncertainty around the world” (what manufacturer doesn’t face all this?), wouldn’t make economic sense to keep the line open for this excellent sleep apnea therapy. I was stunned (still am) when my supplier told me a year ago that they were discontinuing it. The year supply I bought then runs out at month’s end and I’m still trying to find as effective replacement. Tried Bongo last summer–no comparison. All ears for any thoughts or recommendations.
