Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS)’s annual congress, a meeting of sleep medicine and research professionals from around the world, will be held online.

“This decision was reluctantly taken as the social distancing restrictions likely to be still in place during September would make aspects of the scientific program in Seville such as poster sessions unviable. Also, the ability to socialize and network with friends and colleagues would be very compromised in this setting,” Walter McNicholas ESRS president, said in a statement.

Due to the new format of the event, the ESRS board has decided to postpone the abstract submission to Monday, 15 June 2020 in order to allow abstract authors to still submit their work.

According to the announcement, the scientific program of the virtual ESRS congress will be adapted slightly in order to fulfill the needs of a virtual audience. The new structure will be updated on the website as soon as possible.

The scientific program will be accompanied by a virtual poster exhibition as well as industrial exhibition, showcasing the latest advances in the field of sleep medicine.

For the virtual edition of this year’s ESRS congress, the registration fees as well as registration deadlines have been adapted accordingly and represent a 50% reduction on the previous rate for the in-person congress.

To register for the virtual event or to learn more about prices, interested parties can visit the registration page on the ESRS website.
