An article in the Chicago Tribune reports that suburban hospitals are facing increasing demand for sleep studies. According to the newspaper, a combination of obesity rates rising and public awareness of sleep disorders increasing has lead to more polysomnograms being done at facilities such as the Edward Sleep Center in the Chicago suburb of Naperville. According to the article, the increase in patients for this center has led to wait times for sleep studies of 2 to 3 weeks. The center has also expanded its laboratory to 10 beds and can now see 70 patients a week.
