The new feature uses camera-captured data and a science-backed framework to provide parents with a single daily sleep metric.
Key takeaways:
- Nanit’s Sleep Score is an AI-powered feature that distills sleep data into a single number from 0 to 100 for parents.
- The score is derived from data captured by an overhead camera and is based on the B-SATED sleep health framework.
- Metrics include total sleep time, consistency, efficiency, and a patented capability that tracks how parental visits affect sleep quality.
- The feature will be available to all Nanit subscribers this month.
Nanit is launching an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered Sleep Score designed for babies, which translates sleep data into a single, science-backed number.
The feature uses the company’s overhead camera to capture sleep information, which is then distilled into a score between 0 and 100. According to the company, the system is designed to give parents a clear picture of their baby’s sleep and provide actionable guidance.
“Parents don’t need more data, they need clarity,” says Anushka Salinas, CEO of Nanit, in a release. “Nanit’s Sleep Score helps parents see the full picture of their child’s sleep in a way that’s simple, actionable, and grounded in science. The Sleep Score isn’t about performance or comparison. It’s about understanding and support.”
Developed with input from Nanit’s scientific advisory board, the Sleep Score is built on the B-SATED sleep health framework. It measures total sleep time, consistency, efficiency, and parental visits—a patented Nanit capability that tracks how nighttime interactions affect sleep quality. Each morning, parents receive their baby’s score along with the contributing factors.
“Nanit families already sleep more than 10 hours per night on average,” says Natalie Barnett, PhD, vp of clinical research at Nanit, in a release. “Our goal is to build on that foundation. By translating complex information into one meaningful score, we’re giving parents something invaluable—confidence that they’re nurturing healthy sleep habits, responding with care, and doing great, even on the toughest nights.”
The Sleep Score will roll out to all Nanit subscribers this month, automatically calibrating to each baby’s nightly, weekly, and monthly sleep patterns.
