Equipped with queen beds, hospital beds, and in-house-trained techs, the expanded lab supports adult and pediatric sleep care.
Parkview Health in Ft. Wayne, Ind, has opened a newly expanded sleep lab at Parkview Whitley Hospital. This growth is part of a strategic transition from the Parkview Hospital Randallia Sleep Lab to a more centralized, full-service location in Whitley County to meet rising demand while delivering personalized, precise care for a wide range of sleep disorders.
Srinivasan Devanathan, MD, Parkview Physicians Group – Sleep Medicine, says in a release, “Sleep health is fundamental to overall wellness, and our sleep labs give our patients the tools, expertise, and environment needed to diagnose and manage a wide range of sleep disorders.”
The expanded Parkview Whitley Sleep Lab transforms the sleep lab into an eight-bed facility, including six new private rooms and bathrooms. It features six queen-sized beds and two hospital beds for patients with higher acuity or fall risk. The lab also provides specialized services for pediatric patients. The facility supports both overnight and daytime sleep studies, as well as home study options. In partnership with Parkview’s nutrition team, patients are provided meals and snacks during their stay.
A unique aspect of Parkview’s approach is its homegrown training program for sleep technologists. By recruiting, training, and certifying its own polysomnographers, Parkview ensures a pipeline of highly skilled professionals equipped to meet the growing demand for sleep services.
“This new facility reinforces Parkview’s commitment to delivering the highest level of care close to home,” says Scott Gabriel, market president, Parkview Health Northwest, in a release. “Sleep health plays a vital role in overall wellness, and by expanding our capabilities at Parkview Whitley Hospital, we’re making it easier for individuals and families in our community to access the expert, comprehensive care they need. Whether it’s a child experiencing sleep disruptions or an adult managing a chronic condition like sleep apnea, this lab offers the advanced technology and personal attention necessary to support better sleep, better health, and a better quality of life.”
