The Halifax (Canada) Chamber of Commerce awarded NovaResp, a respiratory artificial intelligence (AI) developer, its 2025 “Innovative Business of the Year” award, beating out four other finalists (GIT Coatings, LAB 4 Inc, MOC Bio Technologies Inc, and Barkeep Cocktails).

The 26th Annual Halifax Business Awards took place at the Halifax Convention Centre on January 23, where more than 700 attendees celebrated the finalists’ achievements. “The Chamber and our partners recognize the importance of celebrating entrepreneurship in Halifax,” says Patrick Sullivan, president & CEO of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, in a release.

NovaResp is developing cMAP, a software that uses AI during positive airway pressure therapy to predict and prevent sleep apnea episodes before they occur. As a result, personalized therapy can be delivered via PAP machines at lower, more comfortable air pressure levels, according to the company’s website.

“Many of us have loved ones affected by obstructive sleep apnea, and this personal connection inspires our patient-centered innovation efforts. We’re dedicated to helping not only our family members but also millions of others by making CPAP therapy more comfortable and effective, improving patient adherence and overall quality of life,” the company told the Halifax Chamber.
