Respironics Inc, Murrysville, Pa, has sold its Novametrix pulse oximetry
product line to Dixtal Medical.

Dixtal’s parent company, Brazil-based Dixtal Biomedica, has conducted
business with Novametrix for many years, with Dixtal Biomedica manufacturing
and marketing Novametrix pulse oximetry products for the Brazilian hospital
market.

After Respironics’ 2002 acquisition of Novametrix, the company later
determined that the Novametrix pulse ox line was not a core technology for
Respironics and “made the decision to exit this line of business and refocus
on its core technologies,” a press release from the company says.

Respironics made known its intention to sell Novametrix during its July 2007
quarterly earnings conference call, including the impact of the divestiture
in its guidance. The Novametrix sale is not considered a material
transaction for Respironics.
