SCOPE (Sleep-Apnea & Craniofacial Pain Education) Institute launched this year, with the mission “to advance the education and implementation of sleep apnea, TMJ, and orofacial pain treatment within dentistry for the sake of alleviating these disorders within the population worldwide.”

The organization offers in-depth continuing education courses for dental sleep medicine and craniofacial pain implementation and advancement.

SCOPE Institute offers a variety of craniofacial pain & dental sleep medicine programs, including:

  • 2-Day Courses
  • Shadowing Programs with Experienced Dentist Instructors
  • Remote Mentorship Programs

Executive director Jon Nierman has experience running over 120 continuing education (CE) courses, which has educated more than 2,000 dental professionals in dental sleep medicine and craniofacial pain treatment implementation.

The appointed clinical director is Mayoor Patel, DDS, MS, DABDSM, DABCP, DABCDSM, DABOP. With a myriad of fellowships and accreditations, and a dental practice limited to dental sleep medicine and craniofacial pain treatment since 2003, Patel develops course curriculum based on his years of formal education and experience teaching and mentoring dental practices.

SCOPE Institute educators include Patel; Ken Berley, DDS, JD, DABDSM, DABSA; Terry Bennett, DDS, DABDSM, DABCP, D.ABCDSM; and Shouresh Charkhandeh, DDS; and guest speakers include sleep physicians, ENTs, neurologists, and other specialists involved in sleep breathing disorders and craniofacial pain.
