Key Takeaways:

  • Clinicians can now access positional data with Snap’s FDA-cleared SAM Model 9-10000.
  • Body position data is provided alongside the device’s established channels of direct airflow, respiratory effort, pulse, oximetry, and proprietary sound/snoring.

Snap Diagnostics has integrated a body position channel to its US Food and Drug Administration 510(k)-cleared home sleep testing device, the Sleep Apnea Monitor (SAM) Model 9-10000.

By integrating body position monitoring, SAM equips clinicians with actionable data on how patient posture affects sleep apnea, enabling refined treatment strategies and expanded therapeutic options.

“Snap is committed to empowering clinicians with the tools they need to deliver personalized and effective sleep apnea care,” says Gil Raviv, president of Snap Diagnostics, in a release. “With the rise of positional therapy, we recognize that the ability to measure body position is increasingly important for optimizing treatment outcomes.”

The SAM type III home sleep test now includes body position monitoring alongside its direct airflow, respiratory effort, pulse, oximetry, and proprietary sound/snoring channels. Body position monitoring provides detailed data on patient posture throughout the night, revealing how specific positions may exacerbate or alleviate sleep apnea symptoms.
